In today's world, we tend to turn to Google for quick and easy answers to our questions, especially when it comes to cooking and the freezer. But worry no more, as we have all the answers you need to clear up any doubts!
Can chicken be frozen and re-frozen?
Raw and cooked chicken can both be frozen, and depending on the type of chicken, it can usually be stored in the freezer for up to a year for whole chicken or about 4 months in smaller parts. It may come as a surprise, but you can refreeze chicken too, as long as the previously frozen chicken has been defrosted in the fridge at 5°C or below. This method is completely safe for refreezing.
What about Rice?
You sure can! Both white and brown rice can be frozen. For best results, it is recommended to slightly undercook the rice before freezing to prevent it from becoming too sticky when reheated.
What about eggs?
To freeze eggs, crack them into a container, whisk as you would to scramble, and store in a container. You can also separate the yolks and whites for individual use after defrosting, which is great for recipes requiring a single yolk. However, keep in mind that frozen egg whites may not foam up as much as fresh ones, so it's best to avoid using them in baking.
Ready meals?
Yes! Complete meals can be frozen until you're ready to eat them. Ready meals are just so handy to have on hand for the days and nights you don’t want to cook.
